Care for Residents with Mental Illness

In this seminar, participants will familiarize themselves with types of mental illness, the symptoms associated with mental illness, causes of mental illness and treatment options available.  Participants will also learn how to handle crisis situations using passive approaches through de-escalation techniques and non-violent interventions.  Requirements for involuntary commitments and the procedural guidelines to be followed will be reviewed.  Participants will also learn about the needs and resources for special populations.
