The history of the NFL is a study in American ingenuity.  From its lowly beginnings to a multibillion-dollar behemoth will be examined.  Pioneers such as George Halas, Bert Bell and Charles Bidwell kept alive a dream when there seemed to be no hope of survival.  Teams came and went, yet through it all these pioneers persevered through wars, small crowds, little revenue, and meager talent to produce an unmatched American spectator sport.
