Backpacking for Beginners

Have you ever wanted to backpack, but had no idea how to start or what is required for your safe return?  Discover backpacking fundamentals, safety and what you need to know for a small hike or overnight trek.  Select equipment, clothing and the best footwear, set up a tent and sleep system and find out how to cook a meal outdoors.  You will come away with a greater sense of safety and risk management, navigation, Leave No Trace Principles, water purification, and health sanitation.  This class combines lecture and hands activities that culminates in a 4 to 5 hour hike in a local park. Materials fee due to the instructor the first class session.
