This course is intended to develop and/or upgrade skills necessary or useful to the employee to continue gainful employment, promotion in existing employment, or for learning new job skills.

This workforce development course will help the students develop and/or upgrade the industry skills that are necessary or required for performing a variety of entry level manufacturing jobs in a competitive economy.

This course is formally recognized upon completion with a Certificate of Completion and records are maintained by Butler County Community College.

The subject matter of this workforce development course encompasses the following general areas: to teach participants the entry level skills need to start a career in manufacturing.

LEARNING GOALS/COURSE OBJECTIVES

The skills that will be developed and/or upgraded by this course are:

1. Basic shop safety
2. Basic blueprint reading
3. Hand and electronic measuring instruments
4. Quality processes and procedures
5. Manufacturing processes
6. Basic shop equipment operation
7. Introduction to CNC
8. Industrial fork truck classroom certification
9. Opportunity to earn two NIMS credentials
10. Earn a certificate from NTMA U for each of the three on line modules completed
    
After this course, the student will have the ability to read blueprints, use a variety of measuring instruments, have an understanding of quality concepts and manufacturing processes, be able to safely complete projects using blueprints, measuring instruments and basic shop equipment,
have a basic understanding of CNC concepts
